Producing the promotional video for the PLATH Group<\/a> was a very special experience for us. In this blog post, we\u2019ll share the story behind the making of this informative promotional video. <\/p>

The PLATH Group is a respected, family-run group of companies headquartered in Hamburg with an impressive range of services in the field of data-driven crisis prevention.<\/p>

The exciting journey to create this promotional video began in May 2022, when the PLATH Group decided to take a new approach to its corporate communications. Until then, videos had played no role in its brand identity. This decision presented us with a unique opportunity to work with the PLATH Group\u2019s marketing team to develop a visual identity for the company through film. <\/p>

The project kicked off with the production of a promotional video, which was filmed in Germany between November and January. The goal of this video was to establish a visual identity for the PLATH Group while also explaining its crucial role in crisis prevention. Given the complexity of the products and systems developed by the PLATH Group, the biggest challenge was to strike the right balance between information and emotion while highlighting the common thread among all companies in the group\u2014data-driven early crisis detection. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Following a kickoff meeting and an intensive workshop with the PLATH Group\u2019s marketing team, several exciting challenges emerged that needed to be addressed in order to successfully produce the promotional video<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

1. Detailed Planning for the Production of a Promotional Video<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Given the sensitive nature of the PLATH Group’s business model, meticulous planning was essential.<\/p>

The exact wording of the commentary and the corresponding images were meticulously determined in advance. This required close collaboration with the team in order, on the one hand, to develop a text that reflected the entire group. On the other hand, we had to visit each filming location in advance to assess the creative possibilities. The storyboard resulting from these two aspects not only helped the client understand our creative concept but also made preparing for the shoot much easier. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

2. No filming at client locations<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For safety reasons, it was not possible to film on location at the client\u2019s site. To still showcase the PLATH Group\u2019s products, we decided to recreate usage scenarios. The film begins and ends at a fictional security agency, which was one of the most logistically challenging scenes in the promotional film. The operations center is a control room simulator provided by JST Jungmann<\/a>, a company that specializes in the construction and technical outfitting of control rooms. JST was kind enough to make their \u201cshowroom\u201d available to us for one day of filming. All the actors in these scenes are professional performers who were cast and hired specifically for this promotional film<\/a> production. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

3. 3D Animations as Part of Corporate Video Production<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To visually present specific information about the PLATH Group, we decided to use 3D animations. This was necessary because the five independent business units were difficult to depict using conventional video footage. A Tactic Table in the control room served as the basis for an impressive 3D animation that illustrated the group\u2019s five pillars. This and other top-notch 2D and 3D animations in the film were created by Carsten B\u00f6hnert<\/a>. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Since the PLATH Group consists of various companies, it was of the utmost importance to give each company adequate coverage in the film. To that end, we visited some of the companies based in Germany and filmed on location. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

5. International Use of the Products<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The international use of the PLATH Group’s products was a key concern for the customer.<\/p>

Coincidentally, we were abroad working on a project for another client during the filming of the PLATH video. While we were there, we had the opportunity to shoot a sequence for the PLATH video on location. This sequence focused on the connection between theory and practice. The idea was to use a match cut to show a product\u2014one that PLATH had put through its paces at the test facility in Hamburg\u2014being transported across a terrain on a pickup truck. <\/p>

With this cost-effective solution\u2014which eliminated travel expenses and other related costs\u2014we were able to incorporate visual elements into the film that reflect the international nature of the PLATH Group\u2019s business model. If a company\u2019s customers are located all over the world, then the images in the film should also reflect that fact. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

6. Various Languages Used in Promotional Video Production<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Of course, the plan from the very beginning was to release the film in various language versions. We therefore had the film commentary recorded by professional voice actors in German, English, Spanish, and French and added subtitles accordingly. <\/p>
